Kathryn Rotunna

February 9, 1921 — March 7, 2021

Kathryn R. Rotunna, formerly of Brookfield and Canfield, Ohio, gracefully and peacefully entered eternal rest, on Sunday, March 7, 2021, while a resident of Saint John XXIII Home, Hermitage, Pennsylvania. She was 100.

Kathryn was born February 9, 1921, at home in Brookfield, Ohio, a daughter to Anthony and Mary (Magna) DeMarco.

A 1939 graduate of Brookfield High School, she married the love of her life, Samuel P. Rotunna, on July 12, 1941.

She had first worked at Westinghouse Electric during WWII, and later for the US Census Bureau. However, she may be best remembered for her entrepreneurial ventures: Kay’s Dairy, Kay’s Floral, and Kay’s World of Crafts. Her work ethic was second to none, as she refused to retire until well into her eighties.

She was a member of the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sharon.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, canning, crafting, and collecting antique glass. She was a wonderful cook, specializing in making homemade bread, pizza, and pasta. She was also an avid walker.

Her survivors include: her children: William “Bill” Rotunna and his wife Connie, of Brookfield, Lawrence “Larry” Rotunna and his wife Laura Lisa, of Tampa, Florida, and Mary Kay Bernat and her husband Bob, of Canfield; her grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Lisa (Trent) Toy, Terri (Bob) McCollum, Sam (Mary Margaret) Rotunna, Rico (Kim) Rotunna, Mario (Michelle) Rotunna, and Zachary Bernat; her great-grandchildren, Robby (Julia), Mason, Isabella Kathryn, Rachael, Cole, Wyatt, Wade, Walker, Casiera (Matt), Rico, and Sedona; and by a very special great-great-granddaughter, Aria Kathryn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; siblings, Elizabeth Matteo, Josephine Casiere, William DeMarco, Mary DeMarco, and Dominic DeMarco; and grandson, Anthony.

A time of gathering to honor Mrs. Rotunna’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, from 10-11 AM, at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 4453 Warren-Sharon Rd., Vienna, Ohio 44473. Beginning at 11:00 AM, a Memorial Mass will be said on her behalf. Those planning to attend are asked to wear a face covering.
