Ferko Vodopic

“Together Again”

Ferko Vodopic, of Medina, Ohio, passed away from a broken heart on April 24, 2020, just 38 days after his bride Marija.

He was 79. He was born on April 29, 1940, in Zdencia, Croatia, to Tomo and Franca (Plesic) Vodopic.

A carpenter by trade, he worked as a skilled journeyman cabinet maker for AG Sharp Lumber Company until his retirement in 2002.

He was a proud member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Sharon, Pennsylvania, where he often helped with the church fish fries, picnics and many other functions. He also enjoyed helping and spending time with all his dear friends at the Strossmayer Croatian Picnic Grounds and the Croatian Union. In addition, he was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America.

Ferko enjoyed carpentry, building furniture, and helping anyone who needed a hand. He loved spending time with family and absolutely adored his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Snjezana (Robert) Elshaw, of Medina; his son, Mario (Renata) Vodopic, of Streetsboro, Ohio; his grandchildren, Lukas & Darija Vodopic; his sister, Jana (Stjepan) Juratovic, of Brookfield, Ohio; his brother, Josip (Katica) Vodopic, of Zdencina, Croatia; along with many nieces and nephews in Croatia, Canada, & the United States.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by his beloved bride, Marija (Husnjak) Vodopic, whom he married on January 10, 1969, she died on March 17, 2020; by his brother-in-law, Vlado Bahun; and by his niece, Kasenia Rubina.

A time of gathering to honor Ferko will be held from 9:30-10:30 AM, on Thursday, April 30, 2020, in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, located at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. Due to the current world health crisis, a Private Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for his family at St. Anthony's. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
