William "Bill" Hagood

August 25, 1931 — September 17, 2015

William “Bill” A. Hagood, of Vienna, Ohio, went home at 6:29 pm Thursday, September 17, 2015, while a patient at University Hospital, Cleveland, following a brief illness. He was 84.

Bill was born August 25, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, a son to Richard & Annie H. (Kindred) Hagood.

He graduated from Fenton High School, Fenton, Michigan in 1949 and short time later at a local dance, met a girl by the name of Elaine Montgomery. They fell in love and married on September 15, 1951. Soon after, Uncle Sam drafted Bill to protect our freedom and to help keep our country free. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, where he achieved the rank of Sargent before his honorable discharge in 1954. Once he came home, he reunited with his love and together they started a family. Born to this union were three children, Pamela, Michael, & Teresa.

He supported his family by working as a mobile home salesman for Vagabond Coach Sales, New Hudson, Michigan.

In 1960, he partnered with Mr. P.C. Gail, forming Tri-City Mobile Homes, Vienna, Ohio. This manufactured housing community merger grew and became what is now known as Four Seasons Residential Community.

Bill was very active in his community. He was a member of the Vienna Presbyterian Church, Vienna, Ohio; a Captain and 53 year member of the Vienna Township Volunteer Fire Department; Past-President of the Trumbull County Health Department; former Board Member of Cortland Banks; Lifetime member of the AM Vets Post 290, Vienna; Kiwanis Club of Trumbull County; Warren Ski Club; Past-President of the Ohio Mobile Home Association; and former Mathews School Board Member, where he helped start the football program. In addition, he was inducted into his high school “Hall of Fame”, as well as the voice of the Mustangs for many years where he was considered by many as Mathews Athletics biggest fan. He was also instrumental in the construction of the 911 Memorial located in front of the Vienna Township Fire Department.

In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, snow skiing, working in and around the park, and attending any and all community functions. His true passion was watching his granddaughters participate in all of their activities.

He is survived by: his children, Pamela Thompson & her husband Mitchel and their daughter Leesha, Michael Hagood & his wife Julia and their daughter Alexandra, and Teresa "Terrie" Liller, and her daughter Makenna, all of Vienna; his longtime companion, Dolores "Dee" Barrick; and his extended family & countless friends too.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hagood; and by his nephew, David Hagood.

A memorial service to honor Mr. Hagood will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 27, 2015 at his church, Vienna Presbyterian, 4295 Warren-Sharon Rd., Vienna, Ohio 44473. To further recognize Bill, Military and Fire Department honors will be observed.
