William Saylor

March 16, 1950 — March 27, 2017

William L. Saylor, of Fowler, Ohio, entered eternal rest on Monday, March 27, 2017, following a period of declining health. He was 67.

William was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on March 16, 1950, a son to William C. and Lorabelle (Stafford) Saylor.

He was a 1968 graduate from Mathews High School, where he played varsity football on the school’s first football team. He continued his education by graduating in 1970 from the United Electronics Institute, Akron, Ohio.

Bill had a whirlwind courtship with Myra C. Griffin and they exchanged wedding vows on October 10, 1975. Born to this union was their miracle son, William W.

He worked a variety of jobs throughout his days. Most recently at the Kmart Distribution Center, Warren, Ohio.

Mr. Saylor had a warmhearted personality which drew animals and children to him everywhere he went. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars, attending car shows, building model trains, watching TV shows on car restorations, and Olde TV Westerns. He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. However, his pride and joy, was his 1961 Ford Galaxie Starliner.

Survivors include: his wife, Myra C. Saylor; his son, William W. Saylor, Fowler; his brother, Robert C. Saylor; sister-in-law, Dolores D. Griffin; his niece, Samantha (Igor) Juric; his nephews, Adam Saylor, Matthew Saylor, Daniel Griffin; and his "1.5 son", Andrew Graham, and Jennifer D. Betts, who lovingly took care of him so he could remain at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Russell K. Saylor; brothers-in-law, Daniel W. & David H. Griffin; father & mother-in-law, Wade & Florence Griffin; and his pet Brindle Boxer, Roxanne.

A time of gathering to honor William will be held Friday, March 31, 2017, from 5-8 PM in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, located on the historic village green, at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403.
