The music fell quiet on September 5, 2026, when Thomas "Doc" Thomas passed away unexpectedly after a week in the ICU. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, fierce family devotion, and a lifetime of unforgettable music.

A retired chiropractor by trade and a saxophonist by heart, Tom lived life with a fun-loving spirit. He knew exactly how to make people laugh and lift their spirits. His musical roots ran deep, starting as a boy in the family band, Christy Thomas and the Polka Beats, and continuing through numerous polka bands in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties. His musical journey eventually led him to his true passion: playing the blues alongside icons like Cleveland Fats, BB King, Robert Lockwood Jr., and Muddy Waters. When he wasn't playing music, he could often be found camping and enjoying the simple peace of nature with his family.

Tom was the bedrock and protector of his family—firm, principled, and always willing to stand up for what was right. Over the last ten years, he fought through persistent health issues, yet he never let them dim his spirit, always emerging with a smile.

Tom is deeply missed by his wife of nearly 40 years, Chris; his son, Gary (Melissa) Malgieri; and his grandchildren, Alex, Veda, and Jackie Malgieri.

He was greeted in eternity by his parents, Christy and Mary Thomas. His memory will be kept alive by his siblings, Chris (Joyce) Thomas, John (Sue) Thomas, Dr. Teresa (Dr. Jon) Cooperrider, and Paula (Patrick) Cummings; his brother-in-law, Kenny (Diane) Winiecki; and a large, loving network of nieces and nephews.

Tom taught us how to fight through the hard times, how to laugh through the tears, and how to find the beauty in the blues. His music plays on in all of us.
