It is with a heavy heart that the family of Sonya Janine Craig, 58, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly Farrell, Pennsylvania, announce her sunset as she passed into eternal life on Thursday, August 6, 2026, following an extended illness.
Her sunrise was January 16, 1968, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, as she was born a daughter to Ronald Chambers and Joyce Lee Craig.
She graduated from Farrell High School in 1986 and had worked in a variety of vocations including K-Mart, O’Brien’s Memorial Nursing Home, and Charlie’s Cookie Factory.
Family was first and most important to Sonya, who poured her life into her grandson. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler & Ohio State Buckeye fan. Additionally, she liked playing games on her phone and loved Jazz Music.
Mourning her loss are her children, Torlando "Pete" A. Craig (Grace), and Shaniquia L. "Niquia" Williams, both of Columbus; grandson, Torlando W. Craig; step-grandchildren, Joseph Luna, Lily Luna, and Joy Luna; father, Ronald, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; siblings, Carminal G. Craig, of Farrell, Gravelle Craig (Trinetta), of Cleveland, Ohio, and Anita "Nicky" Craig, Farrell; great uncle, Lawrence Wilkerson; special aunts, Ida Boatwright, Deanna Vanderveer, and Phyllis Craig; uncles, Charles Craig and Phillip Craig; cousin, Darren "Road Dawg" Boatwright; Godmother, Ula West; Godson, Dreylan Smith; best friend "BFF", Jelane Whiteside; additional friend, Robin Keeles; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; as well as her beloved fur-pup, Miles.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce; grandparents, Andrew and Anita Craig; uncle, Danny Craig; and friend, Carmella Blackwell.
A time of memorial gathering to honor Sonya will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 5:30-6:00 PM, at Redeemed Sanctuary, 120 Elm Street, Sharon, Pennsylvania 16146.
