Scott Edward Mort

Scott Edward “Buddha” Mort, of Brookfield, Ohio, passed from this life from complications following heart surgery on Saturday, May 17, 2025, while a patient in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Youngstown, Ohio. He was 48.

Scott was born August 13, 1976, in Youngstown, a son to Michael Oluich & Linda Mort.

“Buddha” or “Repo” as he was known, worked at both North Star Towing and AJ Recycling. However, he was most proud to venture out on his own with Mort’s Towing & Salvage.

Scott had an incredible work ethic and absolutely loved his vocation. He was always willing to help anyone at any time, day or night. He would give the shirt off of his back and he did it without wanting anything in return. He definitely had a heart of gold. He will be truly missed.

In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his grandson, who rode shotgun with him; being an event coordinator for the former Yankee Lake Truck Night; and everything with tires & a motor. A true gear head is an understatement.

Mourning his loss are his mother, Linda, of Hubbard, Ohio; son, Chandler Scott Mort & his wife Alysia, of Brookfield; grandsons who both share his name, Mason Edward Mort and Carson Scott Mort; sisters, Tina Mort and Audrey Lloyd; his favorite ride or die, Mickey; close friends, Gary Bauer & the Bauer family, Tommy Dorsey, Jesse Champ, Charlie Dyson, and Freddie Warring, as well as countless friends.

His father; grandmother, Cynthia Mort; and cousin, Gary Mort Jr., all preceded him in death.

A time of gathering to honor Scott’s life will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 5-8 PM, in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403.
