Masury

Rosevelt Currie, of Masury, Ohio, peacefully entered eternal rest Friday morning, March 8, 2024, while a patient at the Grove at New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, following a period of declining health. He was 88.

Rosevelt was born August 18, 1935, in Robinson County, North Carolina, a son to Buster & Flossie Mae (Mason) Currie.

After spending his formative years in North Carolina, Rosevelt later made Pennsylvania and Ohio his home. Throughout his life, Rosevelt held various trades, but his primary occupation was as a crane operator at Sharon Steel, where he dedicated 25 years of his life. Despite having only a ninth-grade education, Rosevelt possessed remarkable mental strength and ingenuity. He had a knack for fixing things and resolving problems with his clever mind.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Rosevelt found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep passion for dancing, music, fishing and engaging in friendly games of pool, dominos, and spades. Rosevelt was also known for his generosity and selflessness, often driving others around and extending a helping hand wherever needed.

Survivors include; his children, Linda Scott, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Preston Currie, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, Gregory (Kimberly) Currie, Roosevelt Currie, Jr., and Melinda (James) Willie, all of Durham, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirley (James) Dixon, of Masury, Fannie Scott, Mary Washington, and Buster (Martha "Fran") Currie, Jr., all of Sharon, Pennsylvania, and Walter (Iris) Currie, of Farrell; as well as his many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and warmth that will be cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Currie; sons, Phillip Currie & Terry Nixon; and siblings, Maxine Currie, Anna Snow, LeRoy Currie, & Early Currie.
