Roger Stowers

May 10, 1944 — November 26, 2015

Roger A. Stowers, of Brookfield, Ohio, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2015, while a patient at the Heritage Manor Rehabilitation & Retirement Community, Youngstown, Ohio, following a brief illness. He was 71.

Roger was born May 10, 1944, in Hurricane, West Virginia, son of Mack and Anna Marie (Clark) Stowers, Jr.

He proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. His specialty was a Radio Mechanic and an Expert Marksman. Following an honorable discharge, Roger came home, fell in love with the former Barbara J. Susko and became united in marriage on June 12, 1965.

He found employment working at Sharon Steel as an Electrical Foreman and later at Winner Steel.

Perhaps closest to his heart were his long motorcycle trips across the country. Roger being the free spirit that he was rode to Alaska and back. His other interests included repairing cars and trucks as well as fixing anything that needed his touch around the house.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara; his son, Roger A. Stowers, II, Masury, Ohio, & his Fiancé, Melissa & her children, Erik, Alexis, & Kyle, Hubbard, Ohio; his sister, Beverly Piehuta & her husband Jerry, Brookfield, & their daughter, Shannon Toth & her husband Joe, & their son Drew, Sharpsville, Pennsylvania; and his Godson, Justin Stowers, Hubbard.

His parents preceded him in death.

A time of gathering to honor Roger’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, from 2-4 PM at the Briceland Funeral Service, 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. A closing prayer service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours.

As suggested by his family, memorial contributions can be made to either the Harbor Light Hospice, Heritage Manor Rehabilitation & Retirement Community, or donor’s choice c/o funeral home.
