Richard "Rich" Allen Bennett

Richard “Rich” Allen Bennett, of Brookfield, Ohio, entered life eternal on Friday, July 10, 2026, while at home and surrounded by the love of his family, following a period of declining health. He was 77.

Richard was born on November 11, 1948, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son to Howard C. and Elenora K. (Christman) Bennett.

He graduated from Brookfield High School in 1966 and in November of that same year, he enlisted with the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania to help defend our flag and keep our country free.

Rich’s working career began at Sawhill Tubular in Wheatland, Pennsylvania. Eventually, he moved on and found a serviceman position with Packard Electric in Warren, Ohio. He dedicated the next 28 years to the company before retiring.

He was a proud member of IUE and the former Masury United Methodist Church.

In his spare time, he enjoyed muscle cars, oldies music, and hand washing his truck. Rich was a devoted family man. He loved taking care of his family and he treated his wife as royalty. However, spending time with his grandchildren, especially watching their sporting events, warmed his heart the most.

Survivors include: his wife, Betty Jean (Schweiss) Bennett, whom he married December 2, 1978; daughters, Michelle Bennett (Kim), of Niles, Ohio, Christine Smoot (Larry), and Melanie Sump (Dave), both of Brookfield; grandsons, Matthew Smoot (Nicole), and Nathaniel Smoot (Jullianna); cousin, Sally Dancu, of Mercer, Pennsylvania; as well as his grand doggies.

His parents preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
