Richard “Lil’ Bro” Vaughn Chambers was born on April 27, 1948, in Union City, Tennessee, a son to Arthur D. and Faustine (Thompson) Chambers.

He was called home on June 19, 2025, at 12:30 PM, at the age of 77.

Richard attended Farrell High School and was an outstanding basketball player. However, he graduated from Sharon High School in 1968. In addition, he was also a member of the Twin City Elks Basketball Team.

He proudly served our country while in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged from his duties with the rank of Airman E-2.

Lil’ Bro had worked at a number of the valley area companies including: Sharon Steel, Wheatland Tube, Westinghouse, Sharon General Hospital, and Sharon City Schools, to name a few.

He was a lifelong member of the Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ; the New Murray Bell VFW Post #7597; the former R&R bar, now Yanks Place; the Gentleman’s Parlor; and the Twin City Elks Lodge #187, all in Farrell, Pennsylvania.

In his spare time, he enjoyed playing pinochle and his numbers. He was also a former basketball referee and baseball umpire. He loved all sports, but was a die-hard Cleveland Browns, former Cleveland Indians, now Guardians, and Los Angeles Lakers fan. Furthermore, he liked black & white TV shows and listening to music. He treasured being with his family and friends, especially his siblings.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Marlon K. Chambers, of Falls Church, Virginia, Kenneth V. Lane, of Farrell, and Minister Marcell Jariel “Marty” Chambers, of Hermitage, Pennsylvania; step-son, Lamar M. Gibson, of Farrell; grandchildren, D'Asia Chambers, Shamar Gibson, Lasara Benham, and LaShaia Lane; siblings, Evangelist Pauline Roberts, of Farrell, (his twin) Arthur Daniel Chambers, Jr. (Cindy), of Sharon, Pennsylvania, Janice Graham (Terry), of Hermitage, and April Brown, of Farrell; godchildren, Shena Fitzgerald, Xavion Moore, Eric Major, Jr., and Serenity “Mae Mae” Major; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends; as well as longtime friend, Carrie Scott.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, James “Shorty” Johnson; step-mother, Louise (Ross) Chambers; wife, Loretha (Gibson) Chambers; daughter, Vaughnda Chambers McCray; sister, Jacqueline Chambers; and brother-in-law, Elder Willie James Roberts.
