Richard E. Evans, of Vienna, Ohio, laid down his working tools of life as he entered the Celestial Lodge above on Thursday, July 9, 2026, while a patient at the Hospice House, Poland, Ohio, following a period of declining health. He was 88.

Richard was born on June 27, 1938, in Cumberland, Maryland, a son to Boyd & Jessie (Crowe) Evans.

A 1956 graduate from Brookfield High School, he enlisted with the U.S. Army to defend our flag and help keep our country free.

After an honorable discharge, he returned home and found employment as a millworker for Sharon Steel, where he dedicated over 30 years of service to the company. In addition, he and wife operated R n J Lawn & Garden. Furthermore, he had also worked as a slot technician while he lived in Las Vegas.

Brother Evans was a proud member of Jerusalem Lodge #19 F&AM, Hartford, Ohio; and a 32 Degree Mason of the Ancient Accepted Order of Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown, Ohio. He was also an ordained minister who loved performing wedding ceremonies.

In his spare time, he enjoyed working and tinkering around the house, repairing tractors, fixing everything, grocery shopping, and being in his hot tub. However, and most importantly, he loved spending time with family, especially attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

Survivors include: his wife, Janeen Rochelle (Rowe) Evans, whom he married September 25, 1971; children, Ronald Evans, of Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, Rhonda Boos (Michael Naples), of Mineral Ridge, Ohio, Tracy Jamieson, of Hubbard, Ohio, and Richie Evans (fiancée, Kelly Ellison), of Brookfield, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Cheryl Yendrek, of Brookfield; and his extended family too.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Josh Engelhardt; and sister, Joyce Bilunka.

A time of gathering in Richard’s honor will be held from 5-7 PM Monday, July 13, 2026, in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, located at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403, where a Masonic service will conclude our evening at 7 PM.
