Pearl Briceland

March 29, 1928 — December 13, 2017

Pearl Briceland, of Summitville, Ohio, gracefully passed from this life at 12:35 PM on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, following a period of declining health. She was 89.

Pearl was born March 29, 1928, at home in Augusta Township, Carroll County, Ohio, a daughter to Ralph D. & Flo I. (Gamble) Manfull.

On the 22nd day of April, 1946, she married a handsome Marine Sgt. William Ambrose Briceland. Together they started a family and born to this union were five children: Patty, Frank, Mike, Marsha and Bob.

She worked hard on the family farm with her husband and young children. She enjoyed milking cows, bailing hay, tending to the everyday chores, cooking and cleaning for a farm family. After the kids were grown a bit, she helped make ends meet when she found employment working for Baxter’s, and later with TRW, Inc., both in Minerva, Ohio.

Her memberships include: St. John The Evangelist Church, Summitville, where she belonged to the Altar & Rosary Society, CCD teacher  and participated in various church activities; a past-president of the Franklin Local PTA; Mended Hearts, Canton, Ohio; and TRW Retirees.

In her spare time, she loved crocheting, gardening, and canning. However, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, was closest to her heart.

Pearl will be best remembered for the ornery twinkle in her eyes, dimpled smile, kind heart, and her devotion to her family.

She is survived by: her children, Patty Jarvis (John), East Liverpool, Ohio, Mike Briceland (Joy), South Amherst, Ohio, Marsha Bond (James), Seminole, Florida, and Bob Briceland, Sun Valley, Arizona; 23 grandchildren, Robin Cain, Dianna Nieman, Frank "Frankie" Briceland II, Ryan Briceland, Crystal Roberts, Michael Bell, Scott Bell, Carla Martin, Heather Briceland, Gena Knight, Bobbi Sue Insana, Niki Insana, Jessica Briceland, Josiah Briceland, Joy Briceland, Jenarose Briceland, Jaci Briceland, Joshua Briceland, Joel Briceland, Alicia Mills, Karla Jarvis, Thomas A. Jarvis, & Brian Bond; 35 great-grandchildren, Danielle, Liam, Ella, Dylan, Megan, Teagan, Jonathan, Koleby, Josh, Kayla, Leah, Michelle, Collin, Kyra, Jackson, Andrew, Nicholas, Maddy, Mary, Zeke, CJ, Austin, Emma, Allura, Hannah, William, Estralia, Elena, Susan, Will, Zoe, Grace, Caleb, Cara, & Colin; and 7 great-great-grandchildren, Bryce, Brylee, Brynlee, Bryten, Lula Mae, Norah, & Colton.

Preceding her in death are her husband, William, who died June 16, 1999; her son, Frank Briceland; her grandson, Don Briceland; her great-great-granddaughter, Kylee Brown; and her siblings, Margaret Vanfossen, Emmett Tarr, Robert Manfull, Martha Davidson, Cary Manfull, Sarah Tamper, Corwin “Corkie” Manfull, and Sammy baby brother.

A Memorial Mass in honor of Pearl will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at 1:00 PM, in St. John The Evangelist Church, 16017 Smith Rd., Summitville, Ohio. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the church cemetery.
