Norma Catherine Husnick, of Brookfield, Ohio, went peacefully into the loving arms of her husband James Friday evening, September 19, 2025, while at home and surrounded by her loving family, following a period of declining health. She was 88.
Norma was born October 26, 1936, at home in Farrell, Pennsylvania, a daughter to Nikola & Ana (Vestic) Pilipovich.
She graduated in 1954 from Farrell High School and worked as an executive secretary for B. Frank Smith at Sawhill Tubular. In addition, she may also be remembered working at Ideal Bakery and Malleable Steel in Farrell.
Norma was a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Sharon, Pennsylvania, where she liked working the fish fries; Croatian American Civic Club, Farrell, where she liked making strudel and running the bake sales; Croatian Fraternal Union #126; and the Brookfield PTA. Furthermore, she had been a former model for Bernie Cohen.
In her spare time, she enjoyed baking. She was especially known for her cookies & cakes, which she decorated special for her family & friends, crocheting, & reading. Family meant the world to her. Norma, by definition, embodied what a mom, grandma, sister, & aunt was intended to be. She adored her family and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include: her children, Tanya R. Mills (Jeffrey), of Brookfield, and James T. Husnick, II, of Masury, Ohio; grandchildren, who affectionately called her Baba, Kelsey Mesmer, Kyle Husnick, Kourtney Husnick, Nikole Husnick, & Miranda Yencsik (Christopher); great-grandsons, Gavin & Ethan Mesmer; as well as her many nieces, nephews, and great ones too.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James T. “Ego” Husnick, whom she married September 23, 1961, he passed December 3, 2012; brothers, John Pilipovich & Billy Pilipovich; sisters, Vera Beader & Betty Vuckovic; and 2 nephews.
A time of gathering to honor Norma will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 4-7 PM, in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, LLC., located at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio. Her celebration continues with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 10:30 AM, with Father James Powers, officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Brookfield Township Cemetery.
