Nancy Karen “Squeaky” Wright, of Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed into eternal rest on May 15, 2026, while at home, following an extended illness. She was 81.
Karen was born on August 14, 1944, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, the first daughter to Gerald H. and Nancy Lou (Holland) Hurl.
She graduated in 1962 from Sharpsville High School. A few years later, on March 26, 1966, she married the love of her life, Ronald Lee Wright, of Hubbard, Ohio. Together they moved to Hubbard, Ohio. They had three daughters, Michelle Lee, Mari Lynette, and Nancy Suzanne, in the years that followed. He passed unexpectedly on March 19, 1974.
Karen went on to work at the Marconi Lodge where she became known as the beloved “Squeaky” because of her laugh. She eventually bought the restaurant & bar and renamed it to Hurl's.
After selling the bar, she then went to work as a manager for Pay Day Cash Advance at a variety of locations throughout the area.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and all sports. However, and most notably, Duke Blue Devil basketball and Ohio State football were her absolute favorites.
Karen was a member of Miracle Valley Church, Hermitage, Pennsylvania.
Survivors include: her daughters, Michelle Wright (Ryan), of Mercer, Pennsylvania, Mari Hornfeld, of San Antonio, Texas, and Nancy Wright, of Sharpsville; grandchildren, Dylan, Meredith (Alex), Nate, Adam, Jordyn, Jesse, & Samuel; siblings, Krista Manfredi, of Rochester, Michigan, Kyle Edmondson, of Seaford, Delaware, Kim Kuharik (Bernie), only brother, Gerald Hurl (Margaret), and Karole “Nunnie” Kantner (Tom), all of Sharpsville; best friend of 70+ years, Sheryl Wilson (Ed); cousin, Judy Steinhart (Peter), who was more like a sister; as well as many loved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; and favorite aunt, Carol Timmerman.
A time of gathering in her honor will be held from 3:30-4:30 PM, Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Miracle Valley Church, 2119 Valley View Rd., Hermitage, Pennsylvania 16148. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 4:30 PM, officiated by Rev. Samuel DeJoy, Pastor.
