Melanie “Tillie” M. Geletka, of Masury, Ohio, formerly Monette Drive & Oxford Street, Campbell, Ohio, entered life eternal on Monday, July 13, 2026, while a patient at O’Brien’s Memorial Health Care Center, Masury, following an extended illness. She was 100.

Melanie was born March 23, 1926, at home in Campbell, a daughter to Michael & Katherine (Kirtos) Geletka.

She graduated in 1944 from high school in Detroit, Michigan, and furthered her education by attending Youngstown College.

Melanie had a fulfilling career as a secretary at various employers including being an administrative assistant for the city of Campbell.

She was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Campbell, and the Greek Catholic Union.

In her spare time, she enjoyed baking, jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles. Proudly, Melanie, along with her brother George, were their mother Katherine’s devoted and primary caregivers for many years until her passing in 1980 at home.

Remembering her fondly are her nieces & caregivers, Jean McKenzie, of Brookfield, Ohio, and Jill Wilson (John), of Gustavus, Ohio; Godson, Bill Wasko, of Oakland, California; Goddaughter, Lynn Geletka, of Ann

Arbor, Michigan; as well as her numerous generations of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be planned and held at a future date.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Mary Talcott, Catherine Beresh, Anna Shirilla, Helen Wasko, John, Michael, & George Geletka, Olga Dorothy Pasacic; infant brother, Nicholas; & infant sister, Matilda.

A special thank you is extended to the staff & caregivers at O’Brien’s for their skilled care and dedication over the past 15 years. Additionally, in grateful appreciation, to the nursing staff, chaplain, and social workers of Compassionate Care Hospice for their empathetic attention to her since fall of 2025.

Memorial contributions can be made to either the United Way of Youngstown (or) Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.
