Kathryn Hagarman

February 27, 1933 — January 13, 2016

Kathryn J. Hagarman, of Masury, Ohio, began her new life in Heaven on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, while a patient in the Sharon Regional Health Care System, following a sudden illness. She was 82.

Kathryn was born February 27, 1933, in Sharon, a daughter to John F. & Genevieve (Kowalsky) Lattyak.

After graduating from Brookfield High School in 1951, she went to attend Buhl School of Nursing where she graduated in 1954 as a Registered Nurse.

Her vocational skills were utilized at the Buhl Hospital, continued at Meadowbrook Nursing Home, Hartford, Ohio, where she was the Director of Nursing, and lastly as a nurse at Nugent’s Convalescent Home, Hermitage, Pennsylvania.

Along the way she took a dare on a blind date. This date happened to be with a gentleman by the name of Carl A. Hagarman. She fell in love they exchanged vows on February 19, 1955 in St. Bernadette Catholic Church by Father Winca.

She was a former member of St. Bernadette Catholic Parish, Masury, where she attended for over 65 years.

In her spare time, Kathryn enjoyed making afghans & sweaters; working jig-saw puzzles; was an avid reader; loved playing golf with her husband; and had a heart of gold, as she took in stray cats for years, loved them dearly & gave them a home.

She is survived by: her husband of 60 years, Carl; her sister, Dorothy Evankovich, Brookfield, Ohio; and her nieces, Beverly Humrichouser (John) & Audrey Tucker (Larry).

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A time of gathering to honor Kathryn’s life will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016, from 11-12 PM in Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, located on the historic village green at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12 noon. She will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna, Ohio.
