She was a devout Catholic who belonged to the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, St. Bernadette Catholic Parish, Masury. She also had memberships in the Maennerchor and Saxton Clubs, both Youngstown, Ohio.

In her spare time, Josie enjoyed playing golf, bowling, Bingo, skip-o card game, and knitting scarves, hats & gloves. For over 11 years, she & Bud wintered in Seminole, Florida, where she was known as the "sunshine girl" to the neighborhood & marina.
