John Bavola

November 7, 1931 — November 20, 2015

John Bavola, age 84, of Brookfield, OH, passed from this life at 2:03 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015, at home from injuries sustained from an accidental fall.

John was born November 7, 1931, in Belle Valley, OH, a son of John and Mary (Bayless) Bavola, Sr.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  Following his honorable discharge, he married Marjorie Jane Giroski on May 12, 1956.  To this union were born two children, Christine and Carol.

To support his young family, John found employment with Metco Matic, Brookfield, where he worked for 15 years as a machinist.  During this time, he also attended technical/vocational school to learn the trades of bricklaying and electrical services.  He also worked at Sharon Tube Company and retired after 20-plus years.  In addition, he worked side jobs to provide for the education of his daughters.  Most recently, he helped out at the dental office of his daughter, Christine.

In his spare time, he enjoyed dancing with the “Cross Trailers”, watching western and adventure movies, listening to country music, using his beloved John Deere tractor and driving his Ford truck.  John was a long-time member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Masury, OH.

He is survived by his daughters, Christine L. Bavola, DDS, of Warren, OH, and Carol A. (Bavola) Theis of Columbus, OH; his brother, Michael (Janice) Bavola of Sharpsville, PA; his sister, Marge Lisak of Howland, OH; his two grand-daughters, Brooke Theis and Rachel Theis, both of whom are students at The Ohio State University; and his constant companion, Lucky, to whom he provided a forever home.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife of 41 years, Marjorie, who died April 16, 1997; and his sister, Joanne Romine, whom he adored.

A time of gathering to honor the life of John will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 7800 Locust Street, Masury, OH.  The celebration of John’s life will continue with a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. at the Church.
