James "Russ" Bowen

November 25, 1950 — September 25, 2017

James “Russ” Russell Bowen, of Hubbard, Ohio, Brookfield Township, and formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away at 10:53 pm Monday, September 25, 2017 after becoming ill at home and as a result of some recent health issues. He was 66.

Mr. Bowen was born November 25, 1950, in Library, Pennsylvania, a son to James Thomas & Faye (Victor) Bowen.

Following high school, Russ was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict to defend our flag and to help keep our country free. He was honorably discharged from his duties.

After he came home from the service, he married Kathleen A. Kuzma on February 24, 1973 and together they started a family. Born to this union were four children, Denise, Jennifer, Jason & Stacy.

He supported his family working as a maintenance foreman for the Mathews International Corporation, Pittsburgh. In his spare time, Russ enjoyed tinkering with old cars, camping, playing on the computer, and collecting model toy cars.

His survivors include: his wife, Kathleen; his children, Denise K. Martin (Chris J.), South Park, Pennsylvania, Jennifer F. Tyree (Lee), Brownwood, Texas, Jason R. Bowen (Sara), Brookfield, and Stacy L. Bowen, Pittsburgh; his sisters, Trudy Rodocker (Robert), Brentwood, Pennsylvania, and Judith Rodocker, Pittsburgh; his grandchildren, Keyeria Bowen, Destiny Bowen, Lance Freeman, Tanner Bowen (whom was raised by Russ & Kathleen), Katie Cella, & Nathan Martin; and his great-grandchildren, Kennedi, Isaiah, & Klayton.

His parents preceded him in death.

A memorial gathering will be held in his honor on Thursday, September 28, 2017, from 1-3 PM in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, located on the historic village green at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403.
