James “Big Jim” Eugene Durman, II, of Masury, Ohio, unexpectedly passed away from a cardiac event on Sunday, August 30, 2026, in the Emergency Room at Sharon Regional Hospital, following a sudden illness. He was 63.

James was born July 31, 1963, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son to James E. & Thelma E. (Adkins) Durman.

After graduating in 1981 from Brookfield High School, Jim fell in love with a gal by the name of Dianne Grace Johnson. They exchanged vows on October 26, 1984 and together they started a family. Born to this union were three children: James III, Felecia, and Cody.

Big Jim, as he was affectionately known, had traveled for work in the construction trade. He may be remembered working for Wallside Windows in Michigan.

He was a member of the Living Waters Church, Masury; a lifetime member of Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #55, Farrell, Pennsylvania; and American Legion, of Sharon.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to garage sales, and cutting grass. However, he loved spending time with his grandkids which warmed his heart the most.

Mourning his loss are his wife & love of his life, Dianne; children, James Eugene Durman, III (fiancee` Jenny Thompson), of Masury, Felecia Cunningham, of Niles, Ohio, and Cody Durman (Chelsea), of Warren, Ohio; grandchildren, Peyton Schulze, AJ Cunningham, James E. Durman, IV, Alyena Cunningham, Josie Cunningham, (twins) Parker & Carter Cunningham, Landon Cunningham, Cooper Durman, Philip Durman, Mia Scharba, MJ Durman; plus one on the way; brother, Peter Durman (Debbie), of West Middlesex, Pennsylvania; sisters, Mary Weldon (Jerry), of Hadley, Pennsylvania, Glenna Mirkovich, and Jennie Purdie, both of Sharon; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Lydia Grace Durman; and many siblings.

A time of gathering to honor Jim’s life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 2-4 PM in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, located at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. A closing prayer will conclude our time together.
