Jacob "Jake" Krumbach

March 27, 1915 — June 13, 2015

Jacob “Jake” F. Krumbach, of Masury, Ohio, formerly of Brookfield, Ohio, was called home at 11:35 pm Saturday, June 13, 2015, while a patient at the O’Brien Memorial Health Care Center. He was 100 years, 2 months, and 17 days old.

Jake was born March 27, 1915, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son to William & Katherine (Hepp) Krumbach.

He was a 1934 graduate from Brookfield High School, where he lettered four years in varsity football. Shortly after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps to defend our flag and to keep our country free. He participated in the Central and Southwest Pacific offensives seeing action during the island captures of Pelileu, Palau, Okinawa, Shima, and Ryukyu. Following his honest and faithful discharge on September 28, 1945, he married the love of his life, Dorothy B. Miller, on September 1, 1945. They would spend the next 57 years holding hands until her passing on February 25, 2003.

Mr. Krumbach was the owner & operator of Jacob F. Krumbach Carpets, Brookfield, for over 45 years. He was known for his superior attention to detail and had specialized in linoleum installations too.

In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, model airplanes, as well as being a supporter of the Disabled American Veterans. His memberships included: St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermitage, Pennsylvania, and the Sharon American Legion.

Several nieces and nephews survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Dorothy; and by his siblings, William Krumbach and Elizabeth Saborsky.

A time of gathering to honor Jacob will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. His celebration continues at the funeral home with a service at 1 pm, Wednesday, June 17, 2015, followed by full military honors. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
