Helen Alvina Bruce

Helen “Binnie” Alvina Bruce, of Farrell, Pennsylvania, peacefully transitioned from this life on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, as she passed while surrounded by the love of her family. She was 94.

Helen was born on November 24, 1931, in Franklin, Pennsylvania, a daughter to Edward & Eleanor (Stewart) Boyden.

She was a 1949 graduate from Franklin High School and worked in housekeeping for Sharon Regional Hospital for over 20 years before retiring.

Binnie was a member of Greater Morris Chapel A.M.E. Church, Farrell.

In her spare time, she enjoyed crossword, word search, and jig-saw puzzles. In addition, she was a QVC professional. Furthermore, she loved baking and was known for her homemade bread & pineapple upside down cake.

Survivors include: her children, Patricia A. Wood, Barbara J. Rucker, both of Farrell, Henry A. Bruce, Jr., of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Cynthia R. Bruce, of Farrell; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; God-daughter, Tiffany Wilson; as well as a host of nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Aron Bruce, Sr., whom she married August 2, 1951, he passed October 24, 1995; daughter, Helen "Pigeon" Lowe; and granddaughter, Jacqueline Bruce.

A Home Going service will be held in her honor on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM, at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 8148 Ulp Street, Masury, Ohio 44438, where family and friends may pay their respects one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
