Harold Cooper

Harold E. Cooper, 99, of Brookfield, Ohio, died at home, Thursday, March 5, 2015, following a two year illness.

Harold was born September 25, 1915 in Brookfield, son of Clarence J. and Myrtle (Bell) Cooper.

He was a 1933 graduate of Brookfield High School. He married Rose Waid on September 9, 1936.

From his youth he has been an active participant in the Brookfield Christian Church, serving as both Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher.

With his business partner, Frank Zerosky, he launched Graphite Products. He served as production manager for four decades.

Harold served as pack master for Brookfield Cub Scouts, acted as a volunteer Red Cross swimming instructor at St. John’s pool, and served several terms on the Brookfield School Board.

Perhaps closest to his heart were his wood crafts and gardening hobbies. He served as president of the Trumbull County Iris Society and was a member of the American Iris Society.

Harold is survived by his wife of 78 years; his daughter, Carley (Raymond) O’Neill of Vienna; his son, John (Mukta) Cooper, Balbriggan, Ireland; his grandchildren, Ray (Kay) O’Neill of Liberty, Kirsten (Frank) Walker, Tucson, AZ; and his four great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by three brothers, Norman, Clyde, & Glenn Cooper.

A time of gathering to honor Harold’s life will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2015, from 4-6 PM at the Briceland Funeral Service, 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 11 AM. He will be laid to rest in Brookfield Township Cemetery.

Special Care has been provided by Home Instead during Harold’s illness.

As suggested by his family, material contributions can be made to Harold’s favorite charities, Brookfield Christian Church, Box 42, Brookfield (or) the Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512, who also took exceptional care of him.
