Georgianna L. Shingledecker, of Masury, Ohio, peacefully passed into eternal life on Good Friday, April 18, 2025, while at home under hospice care and surrounded by the love of her family. She was 72.
Georgianna was born at home in Masury on June 2, 1952, a daughter to Oscar and Della (Dignall) Swogger.
She graduated in 1970 from Brookfield High School and was a proud homemaker for her family.
Georgianna was a member of Truth & Grace Fellowship Church, Hermitage, Pennsylvania, Masury-Brookfield Women's Club, and the Brookfield Football Mom's.
In her spare time, she enjoyed singing, cooking, gardening, babysitting, and attending family sporting events. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. In addition, she had a soft spot for animals. However, her family was her world. She absolutely loved being with them no matter the occasion. Her boys and especially her grandkids, gave her the most joy.
Survivors include: her husband of 54 years, John “Spanky” Shingledecker, Sr., whom she married April 3, 1971; her boys, John Shingledecker, Jr. (Sue), Brad Shingledecker (Christa), both of Masury, and Eric Shingledecker (Lisa), of Hubbard, Ohio; grandchildren, Jake & Lauren Shingledecker, Logan & Owen Shingledecker, Eric & Evan Shingledecker (Hailey), Lena, Izzy, and Hunter Baum; siblings, Oscar "Junior" Swogger (Judie), of Brookfield, Bessie "Sis" Horvath (Richard "Wimp"), of Liberty Twp., Ohio, Buster "Bus" Swogger (Mary), of Austin, Texas, Shirley Wittenauer, of Vienna, Ohio, Rev. Gary "Butch" Swogger (Beverly), of Medina, Ohio, Karen Boyer (John), of Hartford, Ohio, Carol "Sue" Mathey, of Henderson, Nevada, Rick Swogger (Bonnie), of Masury, Della "Dolly" DeVito (Steve), of Brookfield, and Pastor Jeffrey Swogger (Andrea), of Girard, Ohio; a host of nieces and nephews; and her fur-pup, Gabby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Art, George, Howard “Howdy”, Carl "Frannie", Betty, Alice “Toni,” Nancy, and Gail.
A time of gathering to honor Georgianna will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 3-6 PM, in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, located at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. A funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 6:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in the Brookfield Township Cemetery.
