Frederick Hoskin

May 10, 1936 — April 10, 2019

Frederick W. Hoskin, of Vienna, Ohio, unexpectedly passed away in his sleep while at home on Wednesday, April 10, 2019. He was 82.

Fred was born May 10, 1936, at home in Farrell, Pennsylvania, a son to William V. & Mary Louise (Guthrie) Hoskin.

A 1954 graduate of Hartford High School, he enlisted with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Self was forgotten the day that he left his home to defend our flag and to help keep our country free. His specialty was a Traffic Analyst, as he was assigned to Company A of the 313th Army Security Agency Battalion, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was honorably discharged from his duties with the rank of Specialist 2.

Following his return home, he married the former Georgia E. Haynie on June 7, 1959. Together they started a family and born to this union were two sons, Frederick and Jon.

He supported his young family working at Sawhill Tubular, Sharon, Pennsylvania, as a millwright and retired after 38 plus years of service to the company.

In his spare time, he enjoyed making cannons alongside his longtime friend, Judge John Stuard. They proudly showcased their efforts at various cannon shoots around the country. In addition, Fred liked to fish and hunt when time permitted.

Survivors include: his wife, Georgia; his sons, Frederick A. and Jon C. Hoskin, both of Vienna; his grandson, Anthony M. Hoskin (Trasa); his great-grandchildren, Natalie, Zane, Kristal, & Zoe Hoskin; his siblings, Harry Hoskins, Ravenna, Ohio, and Nancy Myers, Southington, Ohio; and his half-sisters, Mary Pearl Bartlette (Jim) & Janet Gerasimek (Leo).

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings, Ruth Anne, Tom, & Dick Hoskin.

A time of gathering to honor Fred’s life will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2019, from 4-6 PM in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403.
