Fred R. Stewart

Fred R. Stewart, of Brookfield, Ohio, entered eternal rest on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, while a patient at the Christian House, East Palestine, Ohio, following a very brief illness. He was 77.

Fred was born November 15, 1947, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son to Samuel A. & Esther M. (Hulton) Stewart.

After graduating from Hubbard High School in 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Army to help protect our flag and keep our country free. He was assigned to the 7th Military Police Company, 7th Infantry Division. His decorations and citations include: National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter with an M-14 Rifle, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He was honorably discharged from his duties with the rank of Specialist (E-5).

His career was primarily in grocery, managing the stores for Patton's Sparkle, Walts Golden Dawn, and owning & operating his own, Stewart’s Market in Hubbard Ohio.

Fred was a former member of the Hubbard Optimist and Kiwanis Clubs.

In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors sitting on his patio.

Survivors include: his son, Jeffrey A. Stewart (Kerri), of East Palestine; daughter, Michelle L. “Micki” Stewart, of Mayfield Heights, Ohio; granddaughters, Jocelyn & Courtney Stewart; and brother, Edwin Stewart (Nancy), of Hubbard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Jane "Sis" (Papp) Stewart, whom he married July 19, 1969, she passed August 24, 2016; granddaughter, Elizabeth "Elli" Stewart; and brothers, Charles & Donald Stewart.

A time of gathering to honor Fred will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 2 to 4 PM, at Briceland Funeral Service, LLC, located at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403.
