Frank “Ted” T. Bayer, Sr., of Masury, Ohio, peacefully passed from this life on Monday, February 5, 2024, while a patient in Sharon Regional Hospital, following an extended illness. He was 85.
Frank was born October 25, 1938, at home in Sharon, a son of Frank and Betty I. (Mitchell) Bayer.
While eating lunch at a corner deli, he met a gal by the name of Theresa “Tess” Poltor. A courtship began and a short time later, the two exchanged vows on October 20, 1955. Together they started a family and born to this union were four children: Renee, Frank Jr., Lori, and Mark.
Ted supported his family by working as an HVAC Technician for Deiter Heating before he officially retired.
He was a lifetime member of the Brookfield Conservation Club. He also was a proud 61-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He helped countless people along his journey with sobriety.
In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, ice fishing, metal detecting, & looking for arrowheads. Later in life, he loved bird watching. Another favorite pastime was spending time with the family pets, Kyah & Willow.
Survivors include: his bride of 68 years, Tess; children, Renee Boyer, Frank (Dulce) Bayer, Jr., Lori (Ray) Price, and Mark Bayer; grandchildren, Devin Bayer, Josh, Sam, Sarah, & Leah Bayer, Beth (Eric) Hester, & Matt Rea; great-grandchildren, Alex Rea, Kayla Wilson, Kylie Kelly, Mason Gash, Weston, Dakota, & Lillian Bayer; great-great-granddaughter, Adelaide Wilson; siblings, Joyce (Jim) Smith, Gayle (Elmer) Trigg, and Jack (Lil) Bayer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A time of gathering to honor Ted will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 1-3 PM, in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, located at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. A time of remembrance and storytelling will follow at 3:00 PM.
As suggested by his family in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to the Animal Welfare League, 812 Youngstown-Kingsville Rd., SE, Vienna, Ohio 44473.
