Evelyn Meade

November 25, 1913 — February 21, 2016

Evelyn May Meade, of Liberty Twp., Ohio, was called home at 1:07 PM on Sunday, February 21, 2016, while a patient in Liberty Arms Health Care Center, following a period of declining health. She was 102.

Miss Evelyn was born November 25, 1913, at home in Brookfield, Ohio, a daughter to Harry & Ada (Cox) Ulp.

After graduating from Brookfield High School in 1931, she fell in love with a man by the name of Richard Edward Meade. They courted a few years and joined hands in marriage on August 19, 1936. Together they started a family and born to this union were two sons, Ronald Richard and Gary Edward. She was a proud homemaker for her family.

She was a former member of the Brookfield United Methodist Church and in her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, crafting her skills as a seamstress, and displaying her remarkable talent for detail with her hand sewing of all kinds, most notably her needle work.

She is survived by: her son, Gary E. Meade, Daytona Beach, Florida; her daughter-in-law, Gail Meade, Gainesville, Florida; her grandchildren, Linda Meade, Susan Meade, Laurie Ann Meade, Emily Meade, & Jackson Meade; her great-grandson, Cullen; and by her niece & caretaker, Diane Bulick & her husband Paul, Brookfield, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Richard, who died March 23, 1965; by her son, Ronald; and by her siblings, Edward & Robert Ulp & Mary Jean Goncz.

A time of gathering to honor Evelyn will be held Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 2 to 3 PM at Briceland Funeral Service, located on the historic village green at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. A celebration of life service will immediately follow beginning at 3 PM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna, Ohio.

As suggested by her family, memorial contributions can be made to the Brookfield United Methodist Church c/o the funeral home.
