Edward “Ted” P. Baker, Jr., of North Jackson, Ohio, passed away at 10:54 AM Tuesday, July 30, 2019, while a patient of St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, Youngstown, Ohio, following an extended illness. He was 77.
Ted was born September 28, 1941, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son to Edward P. “Paul” and Dorothy R. (Hazlett) Baker, Sr.
He was a 1959 graduate of Hartford High School and had worked for Ranger Transportation, Burbank, California, as a truck driver. In addition, he was better known as the owner of Race Car Hardware, Girard, Ohio, a speed shop and supply company, who built top-fuel engines for racing.
His memberships included: Teamsters, National Hotrod Association, and North Eastern Ohio Oldsmobile Club.
In his spare time, he enjoyed race cars, drinking adult beverages, and the company of his fur-pups, "Minnie & Ruby".
Survivors include: his children, Albert A. Baker (Melissa), Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, Brian P. Baker, Hubbard, Ohio, and Dorothy "Dottie" D. Rogers (Timothy), Orlando, Florida; step-daughters, Tawnya Ortiz, Laura Jenderko, and Marjie Campbell; grandchildren, Trisha, Timothy "TJ", Alexandria, Kylie, Lauren, Addison, and Abbey; 11 step-grandchildren; great-grandsons, Elijah and Zander; 4 step-great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Terry Baker, Hartford, Ohio, Judy Smith (Jim), Kinsman, Ohio, and Gary Baker, Fowler, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Mary Jane (Smith) Baker; and siblings, Harry Baker, and Mary Rose Baker.
A memorial gathering to honor Ted’s life will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2019, from 5-6 PM in the home of Briceland Funeral Service, 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:00 PM, also in the funeral home.
