David R. Leeson

October 16, 1945 — May 26, 2026

Vienna

David R. Leeson, of Vienna, Ohio, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, while at home and surrounded by the love of his family, following a brief illness. He was 80.

David was born in Northampton, England, on October 16, 1945, a son to Dennis C. and Iris M. (Jones) Leeson.

While living in England, he worked as a supervisor at a grocery warehouse before retiring.

He was a member of Believer’s Christian Fellowship Church, Warren, Ohio.

In his spare time, he enjoyed playing darts and skittles, and was passionate for NASCAR and Sharon Speedway. Additionally, Dave was an avid Napoleonic History buff. Furthermore, he actually loved politics and considered himself an aficionado. He truly was one of a kind.

He leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Elizabeth “Liz” (Brown) Leeson, whom he married April 23, 2011; daughter, Clare Checkley (Steven), of Irthlingborough, England; step-son, Gary Hawley, of Kinsman, Ohio; step-daughter, Lisa Scarnechia, of Vienna; granddaughter, Olivia Checkley; and sisters, Wendy Carter (Dennis) and Sue Scott (Tim), both of Higham Ferrers, England.

Clare has many treasured memories of trips with her Dad to Great Yarmouth, a seaside town in the U.K. They attended the annual town fair and savored a toffee apple. She fondly remembers getting 50 pence a week for pocket money. He was filled with love and pride when Olivia was born… Thanks Dad!

His parents preceded him in death.
