David Bricker

March 12, 1931 — November 23, 2016

David E. Bricker, of Brookfield, Ohio, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 while at home following an extended illness. He was 85.

David was born March 12, 1931, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, a son to Charles L. & Anna B. (Fogle) Bricker-Tharp.

He graduated in 1949 from Utica High School, Utica, Ohio, and a short time later, was drafted into the U.S. Army to defend our flag and to help keep our country free during the Korean Conflict. He was assigned to the H & H Company, 160th Infantry, Regiment 40th Infantry Division, where he achieved the rank of Corporal before he was honorably discharged from his duties on the 10th day of June, 1953.

Following his military service, he furthered his education by graduating in 1960 from the Ohio State University with a BS/BA in business administration. He landed a position in banking where he dedicated his career for over 22 years before retiring as a Vice-President from Riverside National Bank, Ft. Pierce, Florida.

David was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Sharon, Pennsylvania, where he served as an usher and on the home visitation team for shut-ins. In addition, he was a Sunday school teacher and choir member in former churches.

In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by: his wife, Geraldine “Gerry” L. (Shull) Bricker, whom he married August 1, 1964; his children, David E. Bricker, Plantation, Florida, Dirk E. Bricker & his wife Sandy, Dublin, Ohio, and Jennifer M. Deering, Fredricksburg, Texas; his grandchildren, Sarah & Jacob Deering; and his siblings, George W. Bricker & his wife Karen, Newark, Ohio, Joe W. Bricker & his wife Phyllis, Kenton, Ohio, and Eloise Bruder & her husband Linn, Medina, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Earl Tharp; brother, Charles W. Bricker; sisters, Patricia & Leanelda Bricker.

A memorial service will be held to honor Mr. Bricker on Friday, November 25, 2016, at 2 PM in his church, St. John’s Episcopal Church.

As suggested by his family and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the church, Hope Lodge, or the Trumbull County Hospice, all c/o the funeral home.
