Clifford Watson

May 30, 1942 — February 12, 2016

Clifford A. Watson, of Brookfield, Ohio, entered the Celestial Lodge above on Friday, February 12, 2016, at home surrounded by his family following an extended illness. He was 73.

Cliff was born May 30, 1942 in Akron, Ohio, a son to Clifford A. & Margaret (Wascera) Watson, Sr.

He graduated from Highland High School in 1961 and furthered his education by attending the University of Akron. A short time later, he enlisted with the United States Marine Corps to protect our flag and to help keep our country free. He proudly served during the Vietnam Conflict where he achieved the rank of Corporal. While he was stationed in London, England, he served as an Embassy Honor Guard.

Following an honorable discharge, he helped his dad working in the family carpet business. He moved to Trumbull County in 1976 and founded Tri-County Carpet, Warren. Later on, he started Precision Clock and Watch Repair, Brookfield, in which he operated for over 20 years.

His memberships include: Old Erie #3 Free and Accepted Masons, Warren; 32 Degree Mason of the Ancient Accepted Order of Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown; and Al Koran Shrine, Cleveland.

In his spare time, Cliff enjoyed animal nuisance control, especially raccoons that he would rehabilitate when they were injured and then set free once healed. He also had a great sense of humor, a real character for laughs, quick to poke fun of himself and anyone else worthy.

His survivors include: his wife, Millie (Jennings) Watson, whom he married on St. Patty’s Day, March 17, 1995; his children, Tracilynn Urruela & her husband Alex, Hollywood, Florida, Corrine Straka & her husband Bill, Concord, Ohio, Wayne McCabe & his wife Lori, Warren, Ohio, Jeffery McCabe & his wife Misty, Kingsland, Georgia, and Dionne Wilson & her husband DeVerne, Rome, Ohio; his sister, Sharon Young & her husband David, Sorrento, Florida; his 20 grandchildren; his 23 ¾ great-grandchildren; and his 3 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A time of gathering to honor Cliff will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2016, from 4-7 PM at Briceland Funeral Service, located on the historic village green at 379 State Route 7, SE, Brookfield, Ohio 44403. Masonic and Military ceremonies will be rendered on his behalf.

As suggested by his family, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital c/o the funeral home.
