Bernard “Bernie” Kimball Thomas, of Farrell, Pennsylvania, peacefully transitioned on April 26, 2026, while a patient at UPMC – Magee’s Womens Hospital, Pittsburgh, following an extended illness. He was 61.
Bernard’s sunrise was on May 17, 1964, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, as he was born a son to Hugo and Annie Ruth (McKinney) Washington.
He attended Sharon City Schools and retired from General Motors after dedicating 33 ½ years of service to the company.
Bernie was a member of the Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ, where he participated in the Men's Group, Bible study, and prayer groups with the men of the church. In addition, he was a member of the United Auto Workers Union.
In his spare time, he enjoyed cleaning his car, riding around town, and being a role model to younger men. He had a helping heart and gentle way about him.
Mourning his loss are: his wife, Lanai Dianne Savage-Thomas, whom he married May 9, 2021; children, Cheintay Graham, Aquail Graham, both of Shallotte, North Carolina, and Jewels Graham, of Waldorf, Maryland; grandchildren, My'Angel, Kalani, Maverick, Natalia, Kiyomi, and Aquail Jr.; siblings, Laytee Wilson (Bruce), of Seville, Ohio, Lisa Thomas, of Youngstown, Ohio, and Hugo Washington (Peggy), of Sharon; God-daughters, Santana Wells and Sondra Archie; sister-in-law, Lila Wright, of Farrell; and brother-in-law, Anderson Savage, of Farrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dewight Thomas; and sister, Pacita Thomas.
A Memorial Service to honor Bernie will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 1:30 PM, in the Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ, 1825 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, where family & friends may call from 1:00 to 1:30 PM, also at the church.

As suggested by his family, memorial contributions can be made payable to the church.
