A native of Columbiana, Ohio, Dan graduated from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1990 after completing pre-requisite studies from both Youngstown State University & Kent State University, Salem Branch. He served his apprenticeship with Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, Alliance, Ohio, before coming to work at the Madasz Funeral Home, Brookfield in 1995. In 2009, he began serving families under his own company, Briceland Funeral Service, LLC.


He is a licensed funeral director & embalmer, a life & health insurance agent, and he also has his certification as a crematory operator. Dan is a Past President of the Brookfield Club of Rotary International, a position in which he held from 2010-2017; Past Master of the Jerusalem Lodge #19 F&AM, Hartford, for the years 2013-2016, and past Secretary, 2016-2021; 32 Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown; Companion of the Mahoning Chapter #10 of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio; Sir Knight of the Ninth Division of Knights Templar of Ohio; Committee Member with the Historical District of Brookfield Township; Co-Treasurer to the Historical Society of Brookfield; Advisor for the “New Addition” to Brookfield Township Cemetery; American Red Cross Blood Donor; Volunteer with the Restoration of Grave Stones at the Brookfield Township Cemetery; Volunteer for the Brookfield Township Community Thanksgiving Dinner; former Master of Ceremonies for the Brookfield Township Memorial Day Parade; former caretaker of the Brookfield Township Community Events Sign; and former advisor to the Rotary Interact Club at the Brookfield Local Schools.


Daniel is married to the former Kristin M. Pinkerton, and he has two children; a daughter, Shilah, and a son, Eli. In their spare time, Dan and his family enjoy traveling, cooking, & hiking.
