Darrin "D" Clark Richmond

July 19, 1968 ~ October 25, 2017 (age 49)

The Piano Brothers

Darrin “D’ Clark Richmond, of Youngstown, Ohio, rode off into the sunset on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, while a patient in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, following a sudden illness. He was 49.

Darrin was born July 19, 1968 in Youngstown, a son to Glenn Marvin Richmond & Wendy (Hawkins) Richmond.

He graduated from Girard High School in 1986 and furthered his education by attending The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He found employment working as a billboard maintenance foreman with Lamar Advertising, Girard, Ohio.

He was a member of the Harley Owners Group, Youngstown, and in his spare time, he loved riding his Harley, playing golf, volleyball, throwing darts, and shooting pool. His talents included riding a unicycle, juggling, and riding a ten-speed bicycle backwards while sitting on the handlebars. He loved life and had a great time in whatever or whenever he was at that moment. The lyrics from the song “My Light” echo Darrin’s life well… “Here I am. What a nice place to be. Never thought I'd see the skies separate for me. Here I am. What a nice surprise. If only I had known what life was like on this side” - Sully Erna

Survivors include: his wife, Anissa Lynn Salem-Richmond, whom he married on August 9, 2008; his daughter, Alexis R. Richmond; his siblings, Jeremy Richmond, Michael Leyman, Barb Kosap, and Tricia Hoskin; his extended family and beloved In-laws; and his countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his sister, Conni Richmond.

A memorial celebration in Darrin’s honor will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2017, beginning at 3 PM until it’s over at BBG's, 40 S. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, OH 44509.

As a personal reflection… “There is a mountain in our minds. Every one of us has a mountain. The mountain is our compiled life events. The struggles and triumphs. The tears and the joy. The heartbreak and the supreme satisfaction of things going our way. All these things put together form our mountain. The people we know and have met along the way. The laughs, the tears we share with them or alone when no one's watching. Our mountain keeps growing and growing until something sets us on top of our mountain with fists flung high into the air. We are screaming to the heavens and asking, begging for answers. "Why me?" "Why does everything have to be so HARD?" "When will it be MY turn to shine in the sun and not hurt like I've been?" My sweet husband Darrin had a HUGE mountain. Gargantuan pain and struggles. I watched him on his mountain so many times and I could do nothing to bring him down. Standing by watching my beloved and best good friend suffer so many times with no relief. One night I had a dream and I call it the voice of a higher power. A message. A knowing. The message was...do not stand on your mountain flailing fist to sky in angry demand of why. Turn around, drop your fists and look down your mountain. Appreciate the faces you see before you there. Acknowledge the struggles of job and family and stress of becoming who you have. Love the good in all you see within your piled high mountain. For all your mountain truly is...IS ALL THAT YOU ARE. And you are an amazing beautiful and cherished creation. Feel lighter looking at ALL you have been through. All you have survived. All of your accomplishments and memories that make your heart fill with love. And look...you are STANDING AT THE VERY TOP-You've made IT!!! I used to tell Darrin this every time he was so scared and so sad. He knew he was on a clock. He tried to be so strong for me. We both saw it. We both tried our best to make the most of whatever was left for us. This man changed my life. I believe we were put together to bring each other as far as the universe needed. Please know everyone that I am doing the best I can to keep in touch but you know how death brings out some funny stuff in people. I'm hoping for love and light to guide me with my husband’s love forever in my heart. Beyond anything I have in my own mountain, I helped him find footing atop of his own. What a journey it has been for me as well. I HAVE NO REGRETS NOR WOULD I EVER CHANGE A THING. THAT MAN LOVED ME! All we wanted was to love each other. I believe I did what woman was made for. Thank you all so so much from both of us for every great moment.” - Anissa
